Natural Solutions to Waste Plastics

Exclusively developed for poly type plastics, including those with organic contaminants.

What is coniforme

What is Alkany?

Alkany, is scaling a proven laboratory technology to a commercial scale that has been researched & and developed over the last twenty years to biologically eliminate contaminated waste plastics.

With a proven technology of converting waste plastics into molecular elements, Alkany is able to customise solutions to meet client needs.

The Alkany biological process targets the most difficult to recycle plastics, separating residual gases for reconstitution into new plastics, useable gases (O2, CO2, CH4) and Fertilisers (CO(NH2)2) as well as enriched organic waste from the Anaerobic process.

The Alkany Process

The Alkany Biological Waste Plastic technology is a unique combination of discoveries, innovations and processes that enable naturally available bacteria to biologically process waste plastics in commercial volumes through anaerobic digestion.

Step 1

Step 5

Step 4

Step 3

Step 2

Sorting

Contaminated wastes arrive and are sorted and cleaned.

Catalyst

Plastics are shredded and processed using Alkanys proprietary methods. Catalysts are added in order to compromise the long-chain polymers in such a way that introduced bacteria will readily colonise and digest the waste in commercial volumes.

Silo

Treated waste plastics are sent to retention silos for the catalyst to act

Digesters

Plastics are then sent to anaerobic digeters that combine the treated plastic, bacteria contained in sludge, waste water and enzymes in order to "eat" the plastic.

Outputs

The outputs can be varied according to client demands. Gases can be extracted in their pure forms as building blocks to either re-create virgin plastic, produce fertilisers when mixed with Nitrogen, or create biofuels.

Our Ingredients

Alkany targets the nasty of nasty plastics that too often circumvent mainstream recycling processes due to the nature of the plastic type or the existence of organic contaminants. As the Alkany process by its nature is biological, organic contaminants can be processed.

Alkany is able to process PET (1), HDPE (2), LDPE (4), PP (5), PS (6), certified compostable plastics and other Type (7) plastics. Alkany is currently working on solutions for PVC (3) where the Chlorine content challenges the bacteria.

We have proven that Alkany can process both hard and soft plastics including most thin film soft plastics such as bags worldwide.

Alkany biologically processed waste plastics are designed to attract microbial digestion in commercial AD substrates such as;
- Household organic wastes such as sewage, food waste, garden waste.
- Agricultural / Animal such as crop waste and animal wastes.
- Custom industrial organic wastes from industrial food processing
- Medical organic wastes

Company Milestones

Alkany has traversed a remarkable journey. Extensive laboratory trials and stringent standards validation paved the way, resulting in the accumulation of three provisional patents. The strategic engagement of Innovyz and the appointment of a Commercialisation Director propelled Alkany into a dynamic phase of proof of concept trials, scaling up operations significantly.

Our Advantages

Cutomisable - Alkany processed waste can be optimised for the locally occurring substrates. Similarly, waste plastics can be optimally treated for their specific type, contaminant or treated as a mixed variety.

Renewable and Sustainable - Continuous digestion results in an exothermic reaction that delivers a self-sustaining operation. The process requires no additional external energy

Low Carbon Footprint - The Alkany process consumes far less energy than traditional recycling methods.

Reduced Landfill - We are particularly proud of our ability to divert waste that would ordinarily have no other option but to go to landfill.

Customised outputs - Clients can engage us with their specific waste needs and output demands.

Global Issue

Globally only 9% of plastic waste is recycled while 22% is mismanaged

The plastic lifecycle is far from circular

The OECD forecasts that plastic waste to landfill will grow by 31% globally over the next 10 years
